Hi All, my names Jacklyn, but you can call me Jackie. I'm a wife in training, blogger in the making. I'm influenced and inspired by Martha Stewart, the Food Network, and Pottery Barn. I'm a creative soul with an appetite for all things unexpected. I have many different interests and hobbies. I'm renowned for having ten projects going on at once and ten more ideas for new ones in my head. I love being creative, feeling like I've put my stamp on something. From a room, to a piece of furniture, to a dessert, I love knowing that something that was once an idea in my head, I can bring to fruition. And when I say I, I really mean myself and my more then wonderful husband.
My husband and I have been together since high school. The best part about having married your high school boyfriend...ha...I haven't called him my boyfriend in years, just seems so weird...is the fact that we share so many memories and friends. It comes in handy when you need help remembering a name of someone you went to school with or an event you can't quite place.
Since getting married we've gotten a dog or as we like to call her Eva. She's a long hair/short hair mix mini dachshund with a diva attitude. And this is partially the reason I quit my job as a Fashion Designer in New York City...
I went to the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC for four years. I graduated and landed a job as a designer at a high end lingerie company where I worked with fine italian laces, dreamy silk material, delicate trimmings and no family/work life balance. I craved time with my husband, with our friends and most of all personal time. Lots of late nights and non-stop thoughts made for sleepless nights and I needed a rest. Oh did I mention the 2 hr commute everyday into the city? Not fun...I promise you, not fun at all. So I quit and decided to take an office job close to home. No sleepless nights, no bumper to bumper traffic, no high stress deadline meeting job.
I have time to do things for myself now, to garden, to read...why can't I get through that book then?, to bake, to cook dinner every night, to work on projects around the house, and to start this blog. And that is how I became The BitterSweet Wife...I hope you come to enjoy my blog as much as I enjoy writing it!
All my love,
Jackie
