A few of my favorite things...

So what do you ask are a few of my favorite things? Well puppies and flowers of course! Not just any puppies though, mini dachshund puppies named Eva the Diva. She hasn't been seen in the blogsphere for a while now, as she's been hibernating for the winter, but now that the flowers are beginning to bloom and the birds are chirping once again, she is back to her regular schenanigans. And we even had a visitor, Ducki!

Eva stands guard over her food as she watches Ducki survey the helpings. Look at those stumpy little legs. Not even as tall as her food bowl.

In the end all she could do was sit back and growl as Ducki takes a nibble.

Outside in the sunshine it's far less tense and far less cold. With the spring sun starting to shine down onus, my early blooming crocus are sprouting out all over the place. You remember when I planted the little bulbs back in the fall. Click here to see the post about fall bulb planting.

Crocus are one of my favorite spring bulbs for a few reasons. One they bloom early, way before the tulips and daffodils. Two, they come in my favorite color, purple. And three, because they are tiny little things, standing a mere 2" tall, but bring so much joy and anticipation for the warmer weather that awaits just around the bend.

Planting them in groupings and around the base of a structure or tree helps unify them. Since they are so tiny, they can get lost if you only have one or two sparsely placed here and there. I planted mine at the base of a large maple tree in our yard and sprinkled in groupings around the lawn.

You can see the specks of color from a down the street. It peaks the viewers interest enough to slow down and ask, what are those tiny splashes of color in the grass?

Eva adores the spring air. It's the perfect temperature for a nice roll in the grass, with a stick in your mouth. Isn't she just precious. Her big dumbo ears splayed out, paws trying to clutch the stick like a otter. It almost looks like she's playing an instrument in the top right picture.

This is her model shot. The wind blowing back her fur in perfect model fashion.

I had to show off her new fur coat. Look at her fluffy sweater. It grew in this winter mostly and we aren't sure yet how much she will lose in the warmer weather, but nevertheless it just makes her that much more one of a kind.

She's my precious little Eva the Diva.
